Transverse flux machines provide very high torque density at low speed. Therefore, they are suitable for direct drives if challenges like high torque ripple and complex mechanical design of the soft magnetic part are solved. High torque ripple can be reduced by an intelligent feedback control system. As far as mechanical design is concerned, a lot of papers deal with different topologies of transverse flux machines' magnetic circuits, but many of these topologies are difficult to manufacture… CONTINUE READING
