SUMMARY :
Eukaryotic DNA interacts with the nuclear proteins using non-covalent ionic interactions. Proteins can recognize specific nucleotide sequences based on the sterical interactions with the DNA and these specific protein-DNA interactions are the basis for many nuclear processes, e.g. gene transcription, chromosomal replication, and recombination.
