This paper reviews the current available literature concerning faceted search to provide a research overview of practices and guidelines for developing effective faceted search interfaces. These findings are then used as the basis for a case study addressing the design of a faceted search interface for classic cars. We find these concepts useful when selectively applied duting the construction of a practical faceted search application for a specific dataset and specific user needs.
