Strain AFT2T was isolated from a mural painting sample from a ca. 1500-year-old tomb located in Shanxi Province, China. The isolate was a Gram-stain-positive, non-motile, non-spore-forming, aerobic and oval to short-rod-shaped bacterium that formed white-pigmented colonies. Phylogenetic analyses based on 16S rRNA gene sequence revealed that strain AFT2T was most closely (97.01 %) correlated and formed a monophyletic clade with Naumannella halotolerans WS4616T (=DSM 24323T). The G+C content of…

Description of Domibacillus indicus sp. nov., isolated from ocean sediments and emended description of the genus Domibacillus.
TLDR
Results from polyphasic studies indicated that SD111(T) represents a novel species of the genus Domibacillus for which the name DomibACillus indicus sp.
Naumannella halotolerans gen. nov., sp. nov., a Gram-positive coccus of the family Propionibacteriaceae isolated from a pharmaceutical clean room and from food.
TLDR
Four Gram-stain-positive, aerobic bacterial strains isolated from a pharmaceutical clean room, a dessert milk product and from raw milk are classified as members of a novel species in a new genus of the family Propionibacteriaceae, for which the name Naumannella halotolerans gen. nov., sp.
Brevibacterium picturae sp. nov., isolated from a damaged mural painting at the Saint-Catherine chapel (Castle Herberstein, Austria).
TLDR
The isolates from the mural painting represent a novel species, for which the name Brevibacterium picturae sp.

TLDR
Strain TSBY 67(T), isolated during a study on the phylogenetic diversity of culturable bacteria from alpine permafrost in Tianshan Mountains, China, represents a novel species of the genus Chryseobacterium, for which the name ChRYseobacteria xinjiangense sp.

TLDR
On the basis of phenotypic and genotypic characteristics, it is suggested that strain Tibet-S9a3(T) represents a novel species of the genus Paracoccus, for which the name ParacOCcus tibetensis sp.
Brachybacterium fresconis sp. nov. and Brachybacterium sacelli sp. nov., isolated from deteriorated parts of a medieval wall painting of the chapel of Castle Herberstein (Austria).
TLDR
From two samples of microbial biofilms, damaging the mural paintings at the Saint-Catherine chapel of Castle Herberstein (Austria), four and nine coryneform bacteria were isolated, respectively, and allocated them to the genus Brachybacterium.
Six novel Arthrobacter species isolated from deteriorated mural paintings.
TLDR
A polyphasic taxonomic study of these isolates, including morphological, biochemical and chemotaxonomic characterization, rep-PCR fingerprinting, 16S rRNA gene sequence analysis, DNA base ratio and DNA-DNA relatedness studies, allocated them to the genus Arthrobacter.
Introducing EzTaxon-e: a prokaryotic 16S rRNA gene sequence database with phylotypes that represent uncultured species.
TLDR
It is concluded that the EzTaxon-e database provides a useful taxonomic backbone for the identification of cultured and uncultured prokaryotes and offers a valuable means of communication among microbiologists who routinely encounter taxonomically novel isolates.
Prosthecomicrobium and Ancalomicrobium: New Prosthecate Freshwater Bacteria
TLDR
The term prostheca is proposed for the rigid appendages of procaryotic cells bounded by the cell wall, and is defined to include the structures on these new bacteria, as well as the stalks of the caulobacters and thehyphae of the hyphomicrobia.
Lipid composition of Halobacterium lacusprofundi
TLDR
Investigation of the recently described aerobic, extremely halophilic archaeobaterium, Halobacterium lacusprofundi showed that the major respiratory lipoquinones present were MK-8 and MK- 8(VIII-H2), a feature found in other members of the family Halobacteriaiaceae.
