The bioassay-guided fractionation of Taraxacum platycarpum (Compositae) extract led to the isolation of a desacetylmatricarin (1) as an active principle responsible for the anti-allergic property. It showed a potent inhibitory activity upon the beta-hexosaminidase release from RBL-2H3 cells in a dose-dependent manner and the IC50 was 7.5 microM. Two structurally related guaianolide sesquiterpenes, achillin and leucodin, were also examined and their IC50 values were determined as 100 microM and… Expand
Sesquiterpenoids from roots of Taraxacum laevigatum and Taraxacum disseminatum.
Chromatographic separation of ethanolic root extracts of Taraxacum laevigatum and Taraxacum disseminatum afforded a total of eight germacrane- and eudesmane-type sesquiterpenoids. including newExpand
Anti-allergic activity of compounds from Boesenbergia thorelii
Boesenbergia thorelii extract of rhizomes and its compounds were investigated for anti-allergic activities using antigen-induced -hexosaminidase release in RBL-2H3 cells. From bioassay-guidedExpand
Taraxacum--a review on its phytochemical and pharmacological profile.
TLDR
This contribution provides a comprehensive review of the pharmacologically relevant compounds of Taraxacum characterized so far and of the studies supporting its use as a medicinal plant. Expand
Anti-allergic substances from the rhizomes of Dioscorea membranacea.
TLDR
Extracts of five species of Thai medicinal plants, locally known as Hua-Khao-Yen, were screened for anti-allergic activities using RBL-2H3 cells and structure-activity relationship studies of naphthofuranoxepins revealed that the hydroxylation at position 8 conferred higher activity than methoxylation. Expand
Phytochemicals and biological activities of Artemisia sieversiana
TLDR
The phytochemical and pharmacological progress of Artemisia sieversiana Ehrhart ex willd (ASS) is summarized. Expand
Sesquiterpenoids and phenolics from Taraxacum hondoense.
Eleven sesquiterpene lactones, including the new guaianolide 11beta-hydroxydeacetylmatricarin-8-O-beta-glucopyranoside, along with four known phenolic glucosides were isolated from TaraxacumExpand
Isolation and identification of phytochemical constituents from Taraxacum coreanum
TLDR
Phytochemical constituents were isolated from the aerial parts of Taraxacum coreanum by repeated column chromatography and prep-HPLC by the interpretation of spectroscopic analyses including MS, 1H-, and 13C-NMR. Expand
Anti-allergic activity of sesquiterpenes from the rhizomes of Cyperus rotundus
TLDR
It was found that the most active sesquiterpene (valencene) and CRE inhibited β-hexosaminidase degranulation by inhibiting the initial activation reaction, Lyn phosphorylation, in IgE-stimulated RBL-2H3 cells. Expand
Inhibitory effect of tannins from galls of Carpinus tschonoskii on the degranulation of RBL-2H3 Cells
TLDR
The results obtained suggest that tannins from C. tschonoskii are capable of inhibiting allergic reactions and may be useful for the treatment or prevention of type I allergic diseases. Expand
New farnesane-type sesquiterpenes, hedychiols A and B 8,9-diacetate, and inhibitors of degranulation in RBL-2H3 cells from the rhizome of Hedychium coronarium.
TLDR
Two new farnesane-type sesquiterpenes, hedychiols A and B 8,9-diacetate, were isolated from the methanolic extract of the fresh rhizome of Hedychium coronarium KOEN cultivated in Japan and elucidated on the basis of chemical and physicochemical evidence. Expand
