Regeneration of artificial lesions was studied along a depth gradient from 5–35 m in the Caribbean corals Porites astreoides (brown morph) and Stephanocoenia michelinii (massive morph). During the first 3–4 weeks of the regeneration process tissue recovery in both coral species was higher in shallow water than in deep water colonies.
