The specific surface area can intensify nitride formation in the course of nitriding in graphite powder. In particular, this area enables one to control the thickness of the nitride coating, i.e., to increase it with decrease in the charge. The latter does not affect the phase composition of nitride coatings but only favors the redistribution of intensities of the main lines of nitrides.
