In this paper we analyze scalar gravitational perturbations on a Robertson-Walker background in the presence of multiple scalar fields that take values on a (geometrically non-trivial) field manifold during slow-roll inflation. For this purpose modified and generalized slow-roll functions are introduced and their properties examined. These functions make it possible to estimate to what extent the gravitational potential decouples from the scalar field perturbations. The correlation function of…
Scalar perturbations during multiple-field slow-roll inflation
We calculate the scalar gravitational and matter perturbations in the context of slow-roll inflation with multiple scalar fields, that take values on a (curved) manifold, to first order in slow roll.
Perturbations in generalized multi-field inflation
We study the linear perturbations of multi-field inflationary models governed by a Lagrangian which is a general function of the scalar fields and of a global kinetic term combining their spacetime
Hubble slow roll expansion for multifield inflation
We examine the dynamics of inflation driven by multiple, interacting scalar fields and derive a multifield version of the Hubble slow roll expansion. We show that the properties of this expansion
Cosmic inflation in a landscape of heavy fields
Heavy isocurvature fields may have a strong influence on the low energy dynamics of curvature perturbations during inflation, as long as the inflationary trajectory becomes non-geodesic in the
Nonlinear perturbations of cosmological scalar fields with non-standard kinetic terms
We adopt a covariant formalism to derive exact evolution equations for nonlinear perturbations, in a universe dominated by two scalar fields. These scalar fields are characterized by non-canonical
Non-linear perturbations of cosmological scalar fields
We present a covariant formalism for studying non-linear perturbations of scalar fields. In particular, we consider the case of two scalar fields and introduce the notion of adiabatic and
On the inflationary massive field with a curved field manifold
Massive fields during inflation provide an interesting opportunity to test new physics at very high energy scales. Meanwhile in fundamental realizations, the inflationary field space typically has a
Angular inflation in multi-field α-attractors
We explore the dynamics of multi-field models of inflation in which the field-space metric is a hyperbolic manifold of constant curvature. Such models are known as α-attractors and their single-field
Sharp Predictions from Eternal Inflation Patches in D-brane Inflation
We numerically generate the six-dimensional landscape of D3-brane inflation and identify patches of eternal inflation near sufficiently flat inflection points of the potential. We show that
Revisiting non-Gaussianity in multifield inflation with curved field space
Recent studies of inflation with multiple scalar fields have highlighted the importance of non-canonical kinetic terms in novel types of inflationary solutions. This motivates a thorough analysis of

New constraints on inflation from the cosmic microwave background
The recent data from the BOOMERANG and MAXIMA-1 balloon flights have marked the beginning of the precision era of cosmic microwave background (CMB) anisotropy measurements. We investigate the
Quantum Fields in Curved Space
This book presents a comprehensive review of the subject of gravitational effects in quantum field theory. Although the treatment is general, special emphasis is given to the Hawking black hole
Particle Physics and Inflationary Cosmology
With the invention of unified theories of strong, weak, electromagnetic and gravitational interactions, elementaryparticle physics has entered a very interesting and unusual stage of its development.
Quantization of Gauge Systems
This is a systematic study of the classical and quantum theories of gauge systems. It starts with Dirac's analysis showing that gauge theories are constrained Hamiltonian systems. The classical
