Recent studies suggest that anthocyanidins play a pivotal role in the chemopreventive effects of fruits and vegetables. However, the underlying molecular mechanisms and cellular targets remain unknown. Neoplastic transformation of cells and inflammation are considered to be major events contributing to carcinogenesis.
