The description of six species of family Microlaimidae (Nematoda), from 5,000 m depth at the Clarion-Clipperton Fracture Zone (North-Eastern Tropic Pacific), is given. Three previously described species (Microlaimus discolensis Bussau et Vopel, 1999; M. porosus Bussau et Vopel, 1999; and Caligocanna mirabilis Bussau et Vopel, 1999) were found about 5200 km far from the area where the type specimens were originally discovered (the Peru Basin, South-East Pacific). Of the new species, Aponema…

Seven new and four known species of the genus Acantholaimus (Nematoda: Chromadoridae) from the abyssal manganese nodule field (Clarion-Clipperton Fracture Zone, North-Eastern Tropical Pacific)

The descriptions of seven new and supplemental descriptions of four known species of the genus Acantholaimus (Nematoda: Chromadoridae) from about 5,000 m depth in the abyssal manganese nodule field

Three new species of Microlaimus (Nematoda: Microlaimidae) from the South Atlantic

Three new species of Microlaimus are described from the continental shelf of the Campos Basin, southwest Atlantic, Brazil, and an amendment to the diagnosis of the genus is proposed, where the number of teeth was modified.

Meiobenthos of the Sub-equatorial North-Eastern Pacific Abyssal Seafloor: A Synopsis

The CCFZ meiobenthos was found to respond to episodic inputs of organic material in the form of phytodetritus sedimentation, some nematode (desmoscolecids) and harpacticoid (argestids) taxa being particularly responsive and increasing their abundance.

New nematode species from the continental slope of New Zealand (Chromadorea, Microlaimida, and Chromadorida), and unexpected placement of the genus Molgolaimus Ditlevsen, 1921

Congruence analysis suggests that in some cases at least, the structure of the female reproductive system is a more taxonomically informative trait for marine nematode classification than the male reproductive system or cuticle.

One new genus and three new species of deep-sea nematodes (Nematoda: Microlaimidae) from the Southwest Pacific Ocean and Ross Sea.

The present study provides the first microlaimid species records from deep-sea habitats (> 200 m depth) in the Southwest Pacific and Ross Sea and the presence of M. korari n.

Nematode species distribution patterns at the Hakon Mosby Mud Volcano (Norwegian Sea)

The Hakon Mosby Mud Volcano (HMMV) is a methane seep that is densely populated by the bacteria Beggiatoa spp. as well as by tubeworms of the Family Siboglinidae. Analyses of samples from seven

Nematode communities inhabiting the soft deep-sea sediment in polymetallic nodule fields: do they differ from those in the nodule-free abyssal areas?

Analysis of nematode assemblages inhabiting the soft sediment in abyssal nodule fields showed that they did differ from those in the nodule-free abyss, which makes it possible for the nodul-free sites to serve as donors of colonizers for the mining-impacted nodule -bearing abyss.

An index to new genera and species of Nematoda in Zootaxa from 2007 to 2012.

A bibliographic analysis of papers on nematodes published in Zootaxa from 2007 to 2012 and a list of new genera and species is presented.

Is the meiofauna a good indicator for climate change and anthropogenic impacts?

Our planet is changing, and one of the most pressing challenges facing the scientific community revolves around understanding how ecological communities respond to global changes. From coastal to

New nematode species and genera (Chromadorida, Microlaimidae) from the deep sea of the eastern tropical South Pacific (Peru Basin)

Six new nematode species are described from the sediment of a manganese nodule area of the abyssal eastern South Pacific and the new genera Caligocanna and Bathynox are considered to belong to the Microlaimidae MICOLETZKY, 1922.

A review of the genus Aponema Jensen, 1978 (Nematoda: Microlaimidae) with description of three new species

All Aponema species described in this paper are characterized by monorchic males without gubernacular apophyses, females with two outstretched ovaries and a conical tail.

Microlaimidae (Microlaimoidea: Nematoda) from the Indian Ocean: description of nine new and known species

Nine species are described from the genera Aponema Jensen, 1978, Bolbolaimus Cobb, 1920, Calomicrolaimus Lorenzen, 1976, Ixonema Lorenzen and Microlaimus de Man, 1880, characterised by sexual dimorphism in the size of the amphids and presence of five precloacal supplements.

Revision of Microlaimidae, Erection of Molgolaimidae fam.n., and Remarks on the Systematic Position of Paramicrolaimus (Nematoda, Desmodorida)

The main differentiating characters applied are: structures of the head region, shape of the oesophagus, position of the excretory pore, shape of the tail, structure of the gonads and ornamentation of the cuticle.
