The autologous mixed lymphocyte reaction (AMLR) measures the response of peripheral blood T cells to antigens present on the surface of non-T cells. The AMLR was studied in 25 patients with Sjögren's syndrome (SS). The AMLR was decreased in 15 of 25 (60%) of patients with SS (5,272 +/- 6,738 cpm vs. 14,396 +/- 10,092 cpm for the normal controls, P < 0.001). The AMLR was decreased in 8 of 15 patients with only glandular disease who were not on any systemic medications. Patients with SS and…

T-cell macrophage subset interactions and decreased autologous mixed lymphocyte reaction in Sjögren's syndrome
TLDR
Results suggest that a defective AMLR may have multiple causes, and patients with normal AMLR had normal percentages of Mac-120+ Mθ and showed normal responses to T-cell mitogens and alloantigens.
Studies of Autologous Mixed Lymphocyte Reactions in Patients with Systemic Lupus Erythematosus
TLDR
The decreased autologous mixed lymphocyte reaction (AMLR) of SLE patients with active or inactive disease either with or without immunosuppressive treatment was low compared with age and sex‐matched controls, suggesting a defect in both responder and stimulating cell populations in SLE.
Circulating natural killer cells in Sjögren's syndrome.
TLDR
Reduced natural killer cell activity of peripheral blood lymphocytes (PBL) has been reported in a number of diseases including Sjögren's syndrome (SS), and a significant correlation was found with the percentage of Leu-7+ cells in patients as well as the SS patients.
Impairment of autologous mixed lymphocyte reaction in the spleen and peripheral blood lymphocytes of patients with idiopathic portal hypertension
TLDR
The depressed cause of AM LR in patients with IPH was suggested mainly to disturbance of the antigen-presenting ability of non-T cells, and it was suggested that not only the spleen cells, but systemic immune disturbance caused the impairment of AMLR in IPH.
Disproportion of Helper T Cell Subsets in Peripheral Blood of Patients with Primary Sjogren's Syndrome
TLDR
The results suggest that the reduced ratio of Thl to Th2 cells is essential and is related to the dysfunction of cellular immunity in p-SS.
Defects of Autologous Mixed Lymphocyte Reaction‐Activated Immunoregulatory T Cells in Patients with Systemic Lupus Erythematosus
TLDR
Although AMLR was decreased in patients with SLE compared with normals, there was no difference in major proliferative cells (T4 cells and T4+JRA+ subset) in response to AMLR.
Differences in the kinetics of the autologous mixed lymphocyte reaction between the various connective tissue diseases
TLDR
Kinetic studies of autologous mixed lymphocyte reaction over 7 days were made in 86 patients with various connective tissue diseases, indicating that these patterns reflect immunoregulatory disturbances peculiar to each disease.
Impaired autologous mixed lymphocyte reactivity in Hodgkin's disease
TLDR
The results demonstrate an impaired function of T lymphocytes from patients with Hodgkin's disease in the autologous MLC and the presence of one or more factors in their serum which inhibit the proliferation of normal lymphocytes in the Autologus MLC.

Studies of immune functions of patients with systemic lupus erythematosus.
TLDR
Two sets of identical twins discordant for SLE activity and correspondingly discordant in their degree of responsiveness in the autologous MLR are identified and indicated that patients with active SLE have a defect in the ability of non-T cells to stimulate as well as a defect of both Tgamma and Tnongamma cells to respond in theAutologous mixed lymphocyte reaction.
Syngeneic mixed lymphocyte reaction in mice: strain distribution, kinetics, participating cells, and absence in NZB mice.
TLDR
These studies indicate that SMLR represents the response of T cells to non-T cells, and that NZB mice manifested poor or no stimulation in S MLR whereas all other strains tested exhibited strong SmlR.
Lymphocyte transformation induced by autologous cells. V. generation of immunologic memory and specificity during the autologous mixed lymphocyte reaction
TLDR
It is shown that the autologous mixed lymphocyte reaction has two classical attributes of an immune phenomenon: memory and specificity.
Suppressor cell activity after concanavalin A treatment of lymphocytes from normal donors
TLDR
Induction of autologous suppressor activity in lymphocytes from healthy donors is compatible with a model that includes a role for suppressor cells in the modulation of the normal immune response.
The cellular basis of the impaired autologous mixed lymphocyte reaction in patients with systemic lupus erythematosus.
The autologous mixed lymphocyte reaction is impaired in patients with systemic lupus erythematosus. This is because nonthymus-derived (T)-lymphocyte preparations from such patients do not stimulate
Activation of suppressor T cells in human autologous mixed lymphocyte culture.
TLDR
AMLC-activated cells treated with mitomycin-C failed to suppress both cytotoxicity and proliferation in fresh primary MLC, suggesting the failure of this T-B interaction may be related to the pathogenesis of certain lymphoproliferative and autoimmune disorders.
Induction of suppressor activity in the autologous mixed lymphocyte reaction and in cultures with concanavalin A.
TLDR
Findings support the concept that an autologous MLR may play an important role in generation of suppressor cells by Con A, which augments the suppressor activity generated in cultures containing both T and non-T lymphocytes.
Autologous and allogeneic intercellular interactions: modulation by adherent cells, irradiation, and in vitro and in vivo corticosteroids.
TLDR
It is demonstrated that autologous and allogeneic intercellular interactions between lymphoid cells are susceptible to a variety of in vitro and in vivo influences and that such interactions may reflect relevant immunoregulatory events occurring in vivo.
