Theoretical and experimental studies were carried out to clarify the effects of geometry such as a vacuum vessel and snorkels, and fluid flow in ladle on the decarburization rate and final carbon content in RH with oxygen gas top blowing.Theoretical analysis of RH yielded a new vacuum vessel of which cross-sectional area and diameter of snorkel were enlarged. Decarburization conditions have been improved.
