Russ Ladwa, my immediate predecessor, said that he had found the role of Dean ‘an immense personal and professional development’. I understand the wisdom of those words now. The position of Dean is quite unique among all of the roles in which I have served the Faculty. To say that at times it can be a lonely place would be an understatement, but to have the opportunity to lead the Faculty and contribute to its development is an immense honour and privilege. I would like to thank the Board of 2012 for their support on my election, as well as the Boards and Vice Deans that I have served with as Dean.
