We outline the construction of metastable de Sitter vacua of type IIB string theory. Our starting point is highly warped IIB compactifications with nontrivial NS and RR three-form fluxes. By incorporating known corrections to the superpotential from Euclidean D-brane instantons or gaugino condensation, one can make models with all moduli fixed, yielding a supersymmetric AdS vacuum. Inclusion of a small number of {ovr D3} branes in the resulting warped geometry allows one to uplift the AdS…
de Sitter vacua in type IIB string theory: classical solutions and quantum corrections
A bstractWe revisit the classical theory of ten-dimensional two-derivative gravity coupled to fluxes, scalar fields, D-branes, anti D-branes and Orientifold-planes. We show that such set-ups do not
De Sitter string vacua from supersymmetric D-terms
We propose a new mechanism for obtaining de Sitter vacua in type-IIB string theory compactified on (orientifolded) Calabi-Yau manifolds similar to those recently studied by Kachru, Kallosh, Linde and
Lifetime of stringy de Sitter vacua
In this note we perform a synopsis of the life-times from vacuum decay of several de Sitter vacuum constructions in string/M-theory which have a single dS minimum arising from lifting a pre-existing
On classical de Sitter vacua in string theory
We review the prospect of obtaining tree-level de Sitter (dS) vacua and slow-roll inflation models in string compactifications. Restricting ourselves to the closed string sector and assuming the
2 de Sitter Vacua and anti-de Sitter Vacua in String Theory
In [1], KKLT give a mechanism to generate de Sitter vacua in string theory. And the scenario, Landscape, is suggested to explain the problem of the cosmological constant. In this paper, adopting a
de Sitter string vacua from Kahler uplifting
We present a new way to construct de Sitter vacua in type IIB flux compactifications, in which the interplay of the leading perturbative and non-perturbative effects stabilize all moduli in dS vacua
Raising anti de Sitter vacua to de Sitter vacua in heterotic M theory
We explore the possibility of obtaining de Sitter vacua in strongly coupled heterotic models by adding various corrections to the supergravity potential energy. We show that, in a generic
A global view on the search for de Sitter vacua in (Type IIA) string theory
A bstractThe search for classically stable Type IIA de Sitter vacua typically starts with an ansatz that gives Anti-de Sitter supersymmetric vacua and then raises the cosmological constant by
Toward de Sitter space from ten dimensions
Using a 10D lift of non-perturbative volume stabilization in type IIB string theory we study the limitations for obtaining de Sitter vacua. Based on this we find that the simplest KKLT vacua with a
Constraints on Meta-stable de Sitter Flux Vacua
We consider flux compactification of type IIB string theory as the orientifold limit of an F-theory on a Calabi-Yau fourfold. We show that when supersymmetry is dominantly broken by the axion-dilaton

Compactification with Flux on K3 and Tori
We study compactifications of type-IIB string theory on a K3 × T2/Z2 orientifold in the presence of RR and NS flux. We find the most general supersymmetry preserving, Poincare invariant, vacua in
Hierarchies from fluxes in string compactifications
Warped compactifications with significant warping provide one of the few known mechanisms for naturally generating large hierarchies of physical scales. We demonstrate that this mechanism is
A)dS Backgrounds from Asymmetric Orientifolds
I present asymmetric orientifold models which, with the addition of RR fluxes, fix all the NS NS moduli including the dilaton. In critical string theory, this gives new AdS backgrounds with
SUSY breaking and moduli stabilization from fluxes in gauged 6D supergravity
We construct the 4D N=1 supergravity which describes the low-energy limit of 6D supergravity compactified on a sphere with a monopole background a la Salam and Sezgin. This provides a simple setting
Moduli stabilization from fluxes in a simple IIB orientifold
We study novel type IIB compactifications on the T{sup 6}/Z{sub 2} orientifold. This geometry arises in the T-dual description of Type I theory on T{sup 6}, and one normally introduces 16
On supersymmetry breaking in string theory and its realization in brane worlds
Abstract We use string duality to describe instanton induced spontaneous supersymmetry breaking in string compactifications with additional background fields. Dynamical supersymmetry breaking by
Supergravity description of field theories on curved manifolds and a no go theorem
In the first part of this paper we find supergravity solutions corresponding to branes on worldvolumes of the form Rd×Σ where Σ is a Riemann surface. These theories arise when we wrap branes on
The trouble with de Sitter space
In this paper we assume the de Sitter space version of black hole Complementarity which states that a single causal patch of de Sitter space is described as an isolated finite temperature cavity
Is there really a de Sitter/CFT duality?
In this paper a de Sitter Space version of Black Hole Complementarity is formulated which states that an observer in de Sitter Space describes the surrounding space as a sealed finite temperature
Brane/Flux Annihilation and the String Dual of a Non-Supersymmetric Field Theory
We consider the dynamics of p anti-D3 branes inside the Klebanov-Strassler geometry, the deformed conifold with M units of RR 3-form flux around the S3. We find that for p << M the system relaxes to
