Abstract The methodology for processing load-sinkage and shear test data obtained using the bevameter is examined. A weigthed least squares technique is proposed for deriving terrain values from experimental data. To streamline data processing time, a portable automatic data processing unit for the bevameter has been developed. The basic features and functions of the unit are described.
