High-statistics measurements of differential cross sections and spin density matrix elements for the reaction γ p → ϕ p have been made using the CLAS detector at Jefferson Lab. We cover center-of-mass energies ( s ) from 1.97 to 2.84 GeV, with an extensive coverage in the ϕ production angle. The high statistics of the data sample made it necessary to carefully account for the interplay between the ϕ natural lineshape and effects of the detector resolution, that are found to be comparable in…
Measurement of Spin Density Matrix Elements in the Reaction γp → K+ Λ(1520) Using CLAS at Jefferson Lab
This work presents a measurement of the spin density matrix elements of the Λ(1520) in the reaction γp → KΛ(1520). The elements measured are ρ11, Re(ρ31), and Re(ρ3−1). The spin density matrix

The measurement results support strong constructive interference when K^{+}K^{-} pairs are observed at forward angles but destructive interference for proton emission at forward angle, and suggest possible exotic structures such as a hidden-strangeness pentaquark state, a new Pomeron exchange, or rescattering processes via other hyperon states.
