Data Communications in an In-Home Smart Grid: Communicating with the Tesla Powerwall

  title={Data Communications in an In-Home Smart Grid: Communicating with the Tesla Powerwall},
  author={L. Buijs and Bart K{\"o}lling},
More insight and control is warranted over an in-home energy management system, consisting in our case mainly of a Tesla Powerwall and a SolarEdge Inverter, in order to allow for further research and development on the possibilities within the field. Not much is known yet on the Tesla Powerwall and its communication, as they aren’t widely available yet and documentation is lacking. In order to achieve this insight, the communicated signals within the system have to read, analysed and used for…

The Energy Box: Locally Automated Optimal Control of Residential Electricity Usage
The Energy Box is proposed as a 24/7 background processor operating on a local computer or in a remote location, silently managing one's home or small business electrical energy usage hour-by-hour
Smart Home in Smart Microgrid: A Cost-Effective Energy Ecosystem With Intelligent Hierarchical Agents
Simulations and numerical results show the proposed smart microgrid based on intelligent hierarchical agents with dynamic demand response (DR) and distributed energy resource (DER) management is very effective in reducing the energy consumption cost while satisfying user's preference.

The rise of the personal power plant
At first glance, downtown Fort Collins, Colorado, looks like a sweet anachronism. Beautifully preserved 19th century buildings beckon from leafy streets. A restored trolley car ding-dings its way

Overgeneration from Solar Energy in California - A Field Guide to the Duck Chart
In 2013, the California Independent System Operator published the "duck chart,"" which shows a significant drop in mid-day net load on a spring day as solar photovoltaics (PV) are added to the
Operation of a multiagent system for microgrid control
This paper presents the operation of a multiagent system (MAS) for the control of a Microgrid. The approach presented utilizes the advantages of using the MAS technology for controlling a Microgrid
