Quantum systems undergoing non-unitary adiabatic evolution present unique characteristics with applications in the field of Quantum Computation. In this dissertation, we study the formalism ofExpand
The time-dependent Hartree-Fock-Bogoliubov equations for Bosons
In this article, we use quasifree reduction to derive the time-dependent Hartree-Fock-Bogoliubov (HFB) equations describing the dynamics of quantum fluctuations around a Bose-Einstein condensate inExpand
Not quite free shortcuts to adiabaticity
Given the increasing use of shotcuts to adiabaticity (STA) to optimize power and efficiency of quantum heat engines, it becomes a relevant question if there are any theoretical limits to theirExpand
From geometry to coherent dissipative dynamics in quantum mechanics
Starting from the geometric description of quantum systems, we propose a novel approach to time-independet dissipative quantum processes according to which the energy is dissipated but the coherenceExpand
Factorizing coupled quantum systems and damped nonlinear Schrödinger equations
Abstract We show that the wave function of a coupled quantum system may factorize for certain coupling operators, resulting in wave functions and effective nonlinear Hamiltonians for the subsystems.Expand
Quantum decoherence
Quantum decoherence plays a pivotal role in the dynamical description of the quantum-to-classical transition and is the main impediment to the realization of devices for quantum informationExpand
Nonlocal random walk over Floquet states of a dissipative nonlinear oscillator.
TLDR
The analysis of period tripling allows us to explore generic features of the dynamics of resonantly driven systems related to the multiplicity of the states, including those missing in the previously explored models of driven oscillators. Expand
Decoherence, einselection, and the quantum origins of the classical
as quantum engineering. In the past two decades it has become increasingly clear that many (perhaps all) of the symptoms of classicality can be induced in quantum systems by their environments. ThusExpand
Many-particle Sudarshan-Lindblad equation: mean-field approximation, nonlinearity and dissipation in a spin system
A system of N spin-1/2 particles interacting with a thermal reservoir is used as a pedagogical example for advanced undergraduate and graduate students. We introduce and illustrate some methods,Expand
Redundant information encoding in QED during decoherence
Decoherence processes in quantum electrodynamics due to neglecting either the radiation [L. Landau, Z. Phys. 45, 430 (1927)] or the charged matter [N. Bohr and L. Rosenfeld, K. danske vidensk. Selsk,Expand
