Detailed neutral hydrogen observations have been obtained of the large barred spiral galaxy NGC 3992 and its three small companion galaxies, UGC 6923, UGC 6940, and UGC 6969. For the main galaxy, the Hi distribution is regular with a low level radial extension outside the stellar disc. However, at exactly the region of the bar, there is a pronounced central Hi hole in the gas distribution. Likely gas has been transported inwards by the bar and because of the emptyness of the hole no large…
Dark and luminous matter in the NGC 3992 group of galaxies - II. The dwarf companions UGC 6923, UGC 6940, UGC 6969, and the Tully-Fisher relation
Detailed neutral hydrogen observations have been obtained of the large barred spiral galaxy NGC 3992 and its three small companion spiral galaxies, UGC 6923, UGC 6940, and UGC 6969. Contrary to the
HI study of the warped spiral galaxy NGC5055: a disk/dark matter halo offset?
Abstract: We present a study of the HI distribution and the dynamics of the nearby spiral galaxy NGC5055 based on observations with the Westerbork Synthesis Radio Telescope. The gaseous disk of
The distribution of dark and luminous matter inferred from extended rotation curves
A better understanding of the formation of mass structures in the Universe can be obtained by determining the amount and distribution of dark and luminous matter in spiral galaxies. To investigate
The visible matter - dark matter coupling
In the inner parts of spiral galaxies, of high or low surface brightness, there is a close correlation between rotation curve shape and light distribution. For any feature in the luminosity profile
The H i morphology and stellar properties of strongly barred galaxies: support for bar quenching in massive spirals
Galactic bars are able to affect the evolution of galaxies by redistributing their gas, possibly contributing to the cessation of star formation. Several recent works point to ‘bar quenching’
The mass distribution in early‐type disc galaxies: declining rotation curves and correlations with optical properties
We present rotation curves for 19 early-type disc galaxies (S0-Sab). The galaxies span a B-band absolute magnitude range from -17.5 to -22, but the majority have a high luminosity with M-B <-20.
Baryonic distributions in galaxy dark matter haloes - I. New observations of neutral and ionized gas kinematics
We present a combination of new and archival neutral hydrogen (HI) observations and new ionized gas spectroscopic observations for sixteen galaxies in the statistically representative EDGES kinematic
Cores of dark matter haloes correlate with stellar scalelengths
We investigate in detail the mass distribution obtained by means of high-resolution rotation curves of 25 galaxies of different morphological types. The dark matter contribution to the circular
Galaxies with Declining Rotation Curves
Abstract A sample of 22 spiral galaxies compiled from published data is studied. The galaxy rotation curves pass through a maximum distance of more than ~1 kpc from the center with a subsequent
Magnetic fields in a sample of nearby spiral galaxies
Both observations and modeling of magnetic fields in the diffuse interstellar gas of spiral galaxies are well developed, but the theory has been confronted with observations for only a handful of

Dark and luminous matter in the NGC 3992 group of galaxies - II. The dwarf companions UGC 6923, UGC 6940, UGC 6969, and the Tully-Fisher relation

High-resolution neutral hydrogen observations - the barred spiral galaxy NGC 1300
Observations of the barred spiral galaxy NGC 1300 are reported and compared with theoretical models. Strong spiral structure is seen in the H I gas distribution. These neutral hydrogen arms
An investigation of the structure and kinematics of the spiral galaxy NGC 6503
The spiral galaxy NGC 6503 exhibits a regular kinematical structure except for a remarkable drop of the stellar velocity dispersion values in the central region. To investigate the dynamics of the
Extended rotation curves of spiral galaxies: dark haloes and modified dynamics
Strict criteria are applied to the sample of spiral galaxies with measured rotation curves in order to select those objects for which the observed rotation curve is an accurate tracer of the radial
High-resolution observations, kinematics, and dynamics of the barred spiral NGC 1073
High spatial resolution neutral hydrogen observations of the barred spiral galaxy NGC 1073 are used to map the kinematics and gas density with a velocity resolution of about 12 km/sec. The kinematics
H I in Barred Spiral Galaxies. I. NGC 1365
Neutral hydrogen observations of the barred spiral galaxy NGC 1365 have been made with the Very Large Array with an angular resolution of 24 x 32. The H I is is mostly concentrated in the prominent
BASIC PARAMETERS OF DARK HALOS IN LATE-TYPE SPIRALS
Mass models for three Sd galaxies in the Sculptor Group (NGC 7793, NGC 247, and NGC 300) and for the Sm galaxy NGC 3109 are presented. While a one-component disk model succeeds in fitting the
Distribution of dark matter in the spiral galaxy NGC 3198.
Two-component mass models, consisting of an exponential disk and a spherical halo, are constructed to fit a newly determined rotation curve of NGC 3198 that extends to 11 disk scale lengths. The
On the Formation of Disk Galaxies and Massive Central Objects
We propose that massive central objects form in the centers of the bars that must develop in young high surface density galactic disks. Large-scale dynamics shut off the growth of the central mass
The ursa major cluster of galaxies - IV. HI synthesis observations
In this data paper we present the results of an extensive 21 cm-line synthesis imaging survey of 43 spiral galaxies in the nearby Ursa Major cluster using the Westerbork Synthesis Radio Telescope.
