  • AbstractA review is given of the work we presented in the 1990s that successfully developed a technique for reproducing the surface patterns and internal microstructure of genuine Damascus steel blades. That work showed that a key factor in making these blades was the addition of quite small levels of carbide-forming elements, notably V.
