The principles of the simulator described, in particular the way in which the outside view is presented, are shown schematically. A television recording element is steered through a model by the subject (helmsman) and the recorded image is directly projected on a screen in front of the mock-up bridge. The subject is on this bridge, which is equipped in such a manner that all actions to control the required course and speed can be performed as in reality.
