Recently two similar methods for demonstrating late replicating chromosome segments by Giemsa staining were developed independently (Grzeschik et al., in press; Epplen et al., in press). Grzeschik et al. did not find any differences comparing G bands and late replication patterns of human lymphocytes. In the study of Epplen et al. the C group was not included since these chromosomes could not be identified on the basis of few late replicating bands.
