The DM2E dataset is a five-star dataset providing metadata and links for direct access to digitized content from various cultural heritage institutions across Europe. The data model is a true specialization of the Europeana Data Model and reflects specific requirements from the domain of manuscripts and old prints, as well as from developers who want to create applications on top of the data. One such application is a scholarly research platform for the Digital Humanities that was created as…

Harmonizing and publishing heterogeneous premodern manuscript metadata as Linked Open Data
TLDR
The MMM project stands as a successful proof of concept for integrating distinct manuscript datasets into a shared platform for research and discovery with the potential for future expansion, and the crucial importance of an iterative process of multidisciplinary collaboration embedded throughout the project is examined.
HARMONIZING AND PUBLISHING MANUSCRIPT METADATA 1 Harmonizing and Publishing Heterogeneous Pre-Modern Manuscript Metadata as Linked Open Data
TLDR
The MMM project stands as a successful proof of concept for integrating distinct manuscript datasets into a shared platform for research and discovery with the potential for future expansion, and the crucial importance of an iterative process of multidisciplinary collaboration embedded throughout the project is examined.
On the quality of vocabularies for linked dataset papers published in the Semantic Web journal
TLDR
This work states that Linked Data serves as a testbed for Semantic Web technologies, as an outreach to application communities interested in data sharing, and contributes more generally to the big data effort by making a large variety of structured data available for all kinds of purposes in various communities.
Implementation of a Linked Data-Based Genealogy Knowledge Service Platform for Digital Humanities
TLDR
The design and development of the Genealogy Knowledge Service Platform is explained, the method and process of the implementation are described, and four examples of how the platform helps users to discover questions, raise questions, and solve questions for their research are introduced to explain how Linked Data can be used in Digital Humanities.
Archives, linked data and the digital humanities: increasing access to digitised and born-digital archives via the semantic web
Mass digitisation and the exponential growth of born-digital archives over the past two decades have resulted in an enormous volume of archives and archival data being available digitally. This has
Springer LOD Conference Portal. Demo paper
TLDR
This demo paper showcases the Springer Linked Open Data (LOD) conference portal and covers the architecture, vocabularies and features of the portal and present usage scenarios.
Building Semantic Knowledge Graphs from (Semi-)Structured Data: A Review
TLDR
This paper provides a systematic literature review on knowledge graph creation from structured and semi-structured data sources using Semantic Web technologies and highlights the tools, methods, types of data sources, ontologies, and publication methods.
A Semantic Model for Historical Manuscripts
TLDR
The first results of an interdisciplinary project dedicated to the study of Saussure's manuscripts are presented, which comprise a model for the representation of time-varying statements and time-Varying domain knowledge (in particular terminologies).
JudaicaLink: A Knowledge Base for Jewish Culture and History
TLDR
This paper explains how JudaicaLink is built, how it can be accessed by users, as well as its architecture, technical implementation, applications and relations to Jewish culture.

Linked Data Mapping Cultures: An Evaluation of Metadata Usage and Distribution in a Linked Data Environment
TLDR
An analysis of metadata mappings from different providers to a Linked Data format and model in the domain of digitized manuscripts serves to evaluate the DM2E model and provides strategic insight for improving both mapping processes and the model itself.
A specialisation of the Europeana Data Model for the representation of manuscripts: The DM2E model
TLDR
The DM2E model will be discussed in its current representation, which involves analyzing the metadata about manuscripts coming from different data providers and in different formats like TEI, METS/MODS, MARC21 or provider-specific schemas.
Europeana Linked Open Data - data.europeana.eu
TLDR
The data.europeana.eu Linked Open Data pilot dataset contains open metadata on approximately 2.4 million texts, images, videos and sounds gathered by Europeana, and is dedicated to the public domain.
Provenance and Annotations for Linked Data
  • K. Eckert
  • Computer Science
    Dublin Core Conference
  • 2013
TLDR
The concept of a Provenance Context is introduced as the basis for a consistent data model for Linked Data that incorporates current best-practices and creates identity for every published Linked Dataset.
Five stars of Linked Data vocabulary use
TLDR
This paper aims to take Tim Berners-Lee's original proposal to the next level by introducing a 5 star rating for Linked Data vocabulary use.
Curating a Document Collection via Crowdsourcing with Pundit 2.0
TLDR
This demo shows how Pundit 2.0 can be used to enhance a digital library, by providing a data crowdsourcing platform, and refines in real-time the exploration functionalities of the library's faceted search.
Pundit: Semantically Structured Annotations for Web Contents and Digital Libraries
TLDR
Pundit is a novel semantic annotation tool that allows users to create structured data while annotating Web pages relying on stand-off mark-up techniques and has been designed to enable groups of users to share their annotations and collaboratively create structured knowledge.
Describing Linked Datasets On the Design and Usage of voiD, the "Vocabulary Of Interlinked Datasets"
TLDR
The design and implementation of voiD, the "Vocabulary of Interlinked Datasets", a vocabulary that allows to formally describe linked RDF datasets, is discussed.
Linked Data and facets to explore text corpora in the Humanities: a case study
TLDR
This short paper built a first prototype exploration tool to allow non experts to make sense of the extremely fragmented and multidisciplinary text corpus, and allow Gramsci scholars to easily select a subset of the corpus of interest as well as possibly discovering new insights or answer research questions.
Pundit: augmenting web contents with semantics
TLDR
Pundit aims at enabling scholars to produce meaningful machine- readable data that captures the semantics of their annotations, by providing a customizable annotation environment, and easy ways of integrating with existing Web archives or libraries.
