Although over 90% of the territory of Tabasco is deforested, there were 48 taxa of ferns and lycophytes in a few semier- vergreen forest fragments in Tacotalpa. These correspond to 43 species, one variety, and one form of ferns, and three species of lycophytes, grouped in 28 genera and 17 families. This richness represents 36% of the taxa, 57% of genera, and 63% of the families of the fl ora of ferns and lycophytes of Tabasco. We found eight new records for the state (seven ferns and one…

Species richness and geographical distribution of montane pteridophytes of Costa Rica, Central America
- Biology
- 1996
The altitudinal distribution for Costa Rica shows the strongest regression of species at 3000 to 3400 m, repesenting the timber-line, and many of the species of older collections (before 1950) were not found again, indicating the influence of human activities.
A linear sequence of extant families and genera of lycophytes and ferns
- Environmental Science
- 2011
A linear classification to the extant lycophytes and ferns based on current phylogenetic knowledge is provided, which provides a standardized guide for organisation of fern collections into a more natural sequence.
