The NMDA antagonist Perzinfotel was tested for anaesthetic sparing properties in telemetered dogs and cats when used in a pre-anaesthetic protocol. In dogs, IV, SQ and IM administration of perzinfotel (10-30 mg/kg) decreased the mean isoflurane MAC values by 32 – 44%. The greatest MAC reduction (59%) was observed with a combination of 20 mg/kg perzinfotel and 0.2 mg/kg butorphanol. Thus, all doses of perzinfotel resulted in a significant reduction of MAC. A dose of 30 mg/kg resulted in…

Effect of perzinfotel and a proprietary phospholipase A(2) inhibitor on kinetic gait and subjective lameness scores in dogs with sodium urate-induced synovitis.
TLDR
The proprietary PLA(2) inhibitor attenuated lameness but not as completely as did carprofen, and perzinfotel did not significantly alter SU-induced lameness.
Evaluation of the potential for interaction between a metaflumizone-amitraz combination and dexmedetomidine hydrochloride in dogs.
TLDR
Prior treatment with metaflumizone and amitraz did not influence the hemodynamic response to dexmedetomidine in telemetered beagles and baseline body temperature was not statistically different from when they were not pretreated.
Evaluation of antibiotics for racing pigeons (Columba livia var. domestica) available in The Netherlands.
TLDR
It is to be expected that the majority of the antimicrobials for pigeons will not satisfy the requirements for final registration as a pigeon therapeutic under the Dutch Veterinary Medicines Act of 1985.
Evaluation of oscillometric and vascular access port arterial blood pressure measurement techniques versus implanted telemetry in anesthetized cats.
TLDR
Use of the VAP device and noninvasive oscillometry had a high degree of correlation with invasive telemetry as the gold standard for blood pressure measurement.
Genetic analysis of canine parvovirus from dogs in Australia.
TLDR
CPV- 2a remains the predominant genetic variant of CPV in dogs in Australia and has not been replaced by CPV-2b or CPV -2c as in many other countries.
Cross-sectional study of canine leptospirosis in animal shelter populations in mainland Australia.
TLDR
Serological evidence of canine leptospirosis in five states in mainland Australia indicates that the disease is more broadly distributed than previously thought.
Molecular subtyping of feline immunodeficiency virus from domestic cats in Australia.
TLDR
Subtype A was found to be the predominant FIV subtype present in Australia, although subtype B was also found, and this results broaden the knowledge of the genetic diversity of FIV.
Feline immunodeficiency virus subtypes in domestic cats in New Zealand
Abstract Extract Feline immunodeficiency virus (FIV), a lentivirus of the Retroviridae family, is common among domestic cats worldwide. FIV infection is characterised by a gradual depletion of CD4+
Squamous metaplasia in the salivary glands of canaries (a case report).
TLDR
The histological changes indicate a vitamin A deficiency as a result of a selective intake of food as the most likely aetiology in two canaries originating from a flock in which there was a variable intake of egg food.
