Polymeric optical fibre (POF) is used for simple light guide and illumination applications. The polymer optical fibre materials can be utilised in flexible lighting elements which can be combined with textile structures. The POF woven fabrics are introduced as a flexible alternative to lighting elements. Various light-emitting woven fabric and light emission theories has been discussed. Simple polymethyl-metacrylate PMMA and polycarbonate PC fibres have been produced experimentally through…

TLDR
The main applications of light-emitting fabrics are illustrated, demonstrating that LEDs, alone or coupled with POFs, represent the most robust technology.
Textile composites with integrated optical fibres : quantification of the influence of single and multiple fibre bends on the light transmission using a Monte Carlo ray-tracing method
Monte Carlo ray-tracing simulations of the propagation of light rays along bent multimode optical fibres indicate that, for optical fibres integrated into composite components, the influence of
Innovative design of photonic interior textiles
Optical fibers have been widely utilized in communication and sensing technologies, but its ability to change colors also makes it a feasible material for interior textiles. In contrast to
FLAT KNITTING OF A LIGHT EMITTING TEXTILE WITH OPTICAL FIBRES
Knitted products have a flexibility that offers many attractive possibilities. Combined with technical fibres, this gives interesting and innovative possibilities. Many technical fibres and yarns has
Light-emitting fabrics integrated with structured polymer optical fibers treated with an infrared CO2 laser
This paper describes woven fabrics made from polymer optical fibers (POF), which are treated with a CO2 laser so that the resultant surface notches on the POFs facilitate side emission of light. The
SELECTED MECHANICAL PROPERTIES OF POLYMERIC OPTICAL FIBER (POF)
The integration of polymeric optical fiber (POF) into fabrics has brought a lot of interest in textile design. POF fabrics could be applied to display the profiles of human beings, animals, objects
