The detection of E-cyanomethanimine (E-HNCHCN) toward Sagittarius B2(N) is made by comparing the publicly available Green Bank Telescope (GBT) PRIMOS survey spectra to laboratory rotational spectra from a reaction product screening experiment. The experiment uses broadband molecular rotational spectroscopy to monitor the reaction products produced in an electric discharge source using a gas mixture of NH3 and CH3CN. Several transition frequency coincidences between the reaction product… Expand

Chemical models of interstellar cyanomethanimine isomers
The E-isomer of cyanomethanimine (HNCHCN) was first identified in Sagittarius B2(N) (Sgr B2(N)) by a comparison of the publicly available Green Bank Telescope (GBT) PRIMOS survey with laboratoryExpand
Laboratory measurements and astronomical search for cyanomethanimine.
TLDR
The combination of the upper limits of the abundances of C-cyanomethanimine together with accurate laboratory frequencies up to ~700 GHz poses the basis for future higher sensitivity searches around Sun-like-star forming regions. Expand
Formation of E-cyanomethamine in a nitrile rich environment
Recently a new molecule, cyanomethamine, has been detected towards Sagittarius B2(N) (Sgr B2(N)). Studying the formation mechanisms of complex interstellar molecules is difficult. Hence, aExpand
Chemical Simulations of Prebiotic Molecules: Interstellar Ethanimine Isomers
The E- and Z-isomers of ethanimine (CH3CHNH) were recently detected toward the star-forming region Sagittarius (Sgr) B2(N) using the Green Bank Telescope PRIMOS cm-wave spectral data, and imaged byExpand
CYANOMETHANIMINE ISOMERS IN COLD INTERSTELLAR CLOUDS: INSIGHTS FROM ELECTRONIC STRUCTURE AND KINETIC CALCULATIONS
New insights into the formation of interstellar cyanomethanimine, a species of great relevance in prebiotic chemistry, are provided by electronic structure and kinetic calculations for the reactionExpand
Abundant Z-cyanomethanimine in the interstellar medium: paving the way to the synthesis of adenine
We report the first detection in the interstellar medium of the Z-isomer of cyanomethanimine (HNCHCN), an HCN dimer proposed as precursor of adenine. We identified six transitions ofExpand
Exploring molecular complexity with ALMA (EMoCA): Alkanethiols and alkanols in Sagittarius B2(N2)
Context. Over the past five decades, radio astronomy has shown that molecular complexity is a natural outcome of interstellar chemistry, in particular in star forming regions. However, the pathwaysExpand
Methylenimine and cyanomethanimine synthesis from ion irradiation of N2-CH4 ice: Implication on the formation of prebiotic molecules in outer solar system bodies
Abstract The synthesis of methylenimine and cyanomethanimine from ion irradiation of N2-CH4 ice was studied, in an attempt to simulate the role of medium mass cosmic rays and energetic solarExpand

TLDR
The gas-phase FTIR study of the pyrolysis products of iminodiacetonitrile has revealed the existence of C-cyanomethanimine and ketenimine, and the Z-isomer was shown to be the major product. Expand
WEAK MASER EMISSION OF METHYL FORMATE TOWARD SAGITTARIUS B2(N) IN THE GREEN BANK TELESCOPE PRIMOS SURVEY
A non-LTE radiative transfer treatment of cis-methyl formate (HCOOCH3) rotational lines is presented for the first time using a set of theoretical collisional rate coefficients. These coefficientsExpand

An Investigation of Prebiotic Purine Synthesis from the Hydrolysis of HCN Polymers
TLDR
The yields from an NH4CN polymerization as a function of hydrolysis time are measured, and it is found that shorter hydrolytic periods give higher yields of adenine, suggesting that the polymer may have been as important a prebiotic source of purines as the usually analyzed supernatant. Expand
