This paper presents an analysis of the concept of Miniature Air Vehicles and Micro Air Vehicles (respectively mAV and μAV) mainly carried out through the development of a mAV prototype called "Bidule", which was first successfully flown in 1998. The final objective of the project is to reduce the size of this miniature demonstrator to a micro sized vehicle. This paper presents the initial work done to achieve this goal with a particular interest in the aerodynamics of the present vehicle. In… Expand

Development of a pigeon shaped MAV for surveillance
TLDR
The primary aim of this research was to develop such a low cost search and survey aerial vehicle which could be used not only for search and surveillance during close combats and anti-terrorist operations but also for general civilians' security purposes. Expand
Simulation Tools for Flight Dynamics Analysis in the Design of MAVs
TLDR
The capability to establish a correlation between the quantitative results and the qualitative ratings obtained from flight testing activity will be discussed and the results of a flight simulation implementation dedicated to investigate the dynamic behaviour of the MAV within its operating environment will be summarized. Expand
