Tooth size arch length discrepancy (TSALD) is a well defined means of assessing dental crowding. In previous literature conflicting evidence exists regarding the part played by tooth size and arch dimension in causing dental crowding. The objective of present study were to; examine the relationship between tooth size and arch dimension in crowded and non crowded arches, and to find out the major contributing factor in dental crowding of each. Eighty patients, 20 males and 20 female in crowded…
Dental crowding and its relationship to tooth size and arch dimensions
TLDR
The arch length was the associated factors in contribution of dental crowding, and was the most common type of malocclusion.
Tooth Size and Arch Widths in Crowded Class I Malocclusion
TLDR
An inverse significant relation was found between crowding and tooth sizes & significantly different tooth sizes were observed in patients with mild, moderate and severe maxillary crowding.
RELATIONSHIP OF DENTAL CROWDING TO TOOTH SIZE AND ARCH DIMENSIONS IN CLASS I NORMAL & CLASS I MALOCCLUSION SAMPLE
Various studies have been conducted to find the cause of crowding in Class I malocclusion, however causes vary from one population to another. The aim of this study was to determine the relationship
Evaluation of Dental Crowding and Spacing in Relation to Tooth Size and Arch Dimensions in a Sample of Sudanese Adults.
TLDR
Both tooth size and arch dimensions contribute to dental crowding and spacing and should be considered in the initial stages of orthodontic treatment planning to avoid compromised treatment outcomes.
Crowding severity associated with dental mass
TLDR
As the crowding severity increases, there is more tooth mass in patients, andstatistically significant differences in the maxilla and mandible were found.
Evaluation of tooth size discrepancy in different malocclusion groups.
TLDR
Skeletal Class II patients showed a tendency towards higher mesiodistal widths of teeth in the mandibular anterior region, and significantly higher mean anterior tooth ratios were found for Class I (p < 0.01) patients.
Relationship among Lower Arch Length, Arch Width and Arch Perimeter in Crowding and Non-Crowding Groups
TLDR
The arch length and arch perimeter were not associated factors in contribution to lower arch crowding, and the width of the arch was mentioned, because the differences between the two groups was significantly different.
Clinical applicability of variations in arch dimensions and arch forms among various vertical facial patterns.
OBJECTIVE To compare dental arch dimensions and arch forms in various vertical facial patterns. STUDY DESIGN Cross-sectional comparative study. PLACE AND DURATION OF STUDY The Aga Khan University
DENTAL CROWDING AND ITS RELATIONSHIP TO ARCH DIMENSIONS — GENDER DIMORPHISM
This study was conducted on a sample of 120 individuals (60 male and 60 female individuals) with dental Class I malocclusion selected from different dental institutions of Lahore, Pakistan. The
Variability of arch forms in various vertical facial patterns.
TLDR
A non-linear relationship was found between arch length and arch width; so arch form guides could not be made for specific face types, and wide lower arches were predominant in all face types.

The results of this study suggest that consideration be given to those treatment techniques which increase dental arch length rather than reduce tooth mass.

It can be concluded that the factor that determines whether a primary dental arch is crowded is the absolute width of the arch.

The application of elliptical Fourier functions (EFFs) provided an accurate numeric description of the dental arch form and statistically significant shape differences between groups I and II were obtained for both arches.

The sum of mesiodistal widths of teeth, in addition to the arch length analysis, should be considered in formulating an orthodontic treatment plan for patients with good tooth alignment and patients with crowded dental arches.

An investigation was carried out to determine the correlation among cumulative mesiodistal crown widths, arch dimensions, and the degree of primary dental arch crowding in indigenous British and Pakistani immigrant groups, and suggested a complex interrelationship.

In a recent study, it was reported that maxillary and mandibular arch lengths were significantly shorter in a sample of contemporary children in the deciduous dentition compared with a historical
Mandibular anterior crowding in relation to tooth size and craniofacial morphology.
TLDR
A statistical evaluation revealed that in the latter group the mesiodistal diameter of the four mandibular incisor teeth was significantly greater, whereas the intercanine width and the frequency of third molars were the same in both groups.
Mandibular incisor dimensions and crowding.
TLDR
While there was a weak tendency for narrower incisor widths to be associated with better alignment in some instances, narrower mesiodistal widths of mandibular incisors did not ensure long-term stability in orthodontically treated cases.
The validity of maxillary expansion indices.
TLDR
The results suggest that Pont's index, Schwarz's analysis and McNamara's rule of thumb potentially overestimate the arch expansion required to alleviate crowding.
Crowding of mandibular incisors.
TLDR
It was found in the present study that, in general, the differences and correlations of variables were more constant and significant in females than in males, and the overbite was found to be, on the average, less in the untreated group in males as well as in females.
