We study various configurations of rotating and wound D1-brane in AdS_5\times S^5 background and in its beta deformed version. We find giant magnon and spike solutions on the world-volume of D1-brane in AdS_5\times S^5 background. We also analyse the equations of motion of D1-brane in beta-deformed background. We show that in the limit of large electric flux on world-volume of D1-brane they reduce to the equations that describe collection of large number of fundamental strings. We also…

Mesons in marginally deformed AdS/CFT

We study the embedding of spacetime filling D7-branes in β-deformed backgrounds which, according to the AdS/CFT dictionary, corresponds to flavoring β-deformed = 4 super Yang-Mills. We consider

Spiky strings on I-brane

A bstractWe study rigidly rotating strings in the near horizon geometry of the 1+1 dimensional intersection of two orthogonal stacks of NS5-branes, the so called I-brane background. We solve the

N spike D-strings in AdS Space with mixed flux

We use Dirac-Born-Infeld action to study the spinning D-string in $AdS_3 $ background in the presence of both NS-NS and RR fluxes. We compute the scaling relation between the energy (E) and spin (S)

D1 string dynamics in curved backgrounds with fluxes

A bstractWe study various rotating and oscillating D-string configurations in some general backgrounds with fluxes. In particular, we look for solutions to the equations of motion of various rigidly

Semiclassical strings on curved branes

A bstractWe study semiclassical strings in the near horizon geometry of certain curved branes. We investigate the rigidly rotating strings in the near horizon geometry of NS5-branes wrapped on AdS3 ×

On the giant magnon and spike solutions for strings on AdS3 × S3

We study solutions for the rotating strings on the sphere with a background NS-NS field and on the anti-de-Sitter spacetime. We show the existence of magnon and single spike solutions on R × S2 in

Giant Magnons and Spiky Strings on S3 with B-Field

We study solutions for a rotating string on S 3 with a background NS-NS B-field and show the existence of spiky string and giant magnon as two limiting solutions. We make a connection to the

Magnon like solutions for strings in I-brane background

We study the solutions for fundamental string rotating in a background generated by a 1+1 dimensional intersection of two orthogonal stacks of fivebranes in type IIB string theory. We show the

Single spike solutions for strings on S-2 and S-3

We study solutions for rigidly rotating strings on a two-sphere. Among them we find two limiting cases that have a particular interest, one is the already known giant magnon and the other we call the

Spiky strings in AdS4 × CP3 with Neveu-Schwarz flux

We study general rotating string solution in the AdS4 × CP3 background with a BNS holonomy turned on over CP1 ⊂ CP3. We find the giant magnon and single spike solutions for the string moving in this

Semiclassical strings in electric and magnetic field deformed AdS(5) x S-5 spacetimes

D2-branes with magnetic or electric flux in 10 D IIA string theory, after the Kaluza-Klein reduction. We then perform the T-duality to the spacetime to find the background of a stack of N D3-branes

Branes in AdS and pp-wave spacetimes

We find half supersymmetric AdS-embeddings in AdS_5 x S^5 corresponding to all quarter BPS orthogonal intersections of D3-branes with Dp-branes. A particular case is the Karch-Randall embedding AdS_4

Giant Magnon in NS5-brane Background.

We study the giant magnon solutions in the near horizon geometry of the Neveu-Schwarz (NS) 5-brane background. In conformal gauge, we find magnon dispersion relation in the large angular momentum (J)

Supersymmetric D-branes on SU(2) structure manifolds

We employ generalized complex geometry to investigate supersymmetric embeddings of D-brane probes in a large class of SU(2) structure manifolds. This class includes the gravity dual of mass

Fat Magnon

We consider a D-brane type state which shares the characteristic of the recently found giant magnon of Hofman and Maldacena. More specifically we find a bound state of giant graviton (D3-brane) and

Rotating strings with two unequal spins in Lunin-Maldacena background

We study a string motion in the Lunin-Maldacena background, that is, the β-deformed AdS5 × 5 background dual to a β-deformation of = 4 super Yang-Mills theory. For real β we construct a rotating and

Magnons, classical strings and β-deformations

Motivated by the recent work of Hofman and Maldacena [1] we construct a classical string solution on the β-deformed AdS5 × 5 background. This string solution is identified with a magnon state of the

A Review of integrable deformations in AdS/CFT

Marginal β deformations of $\mathcal{N}=4$ super-Yang–Mills theory are known to correspond to a certain class of deformations of the S5 background subspace of type IIB string theory in AdS5×S5. An

Gauge-string duality for superconformal deformations of N=4 super Yang-Mills theory

We analyze in detail the relation between an exactly marginal deformation of N=4 SYM - the Leigh-Strassler or ``beta-deformation'' - and its string theory dual (recently constructed in

Three-Spin Giant Magnons in AdS_5xS^5

From the Polyakov string action using a conformal gauge we construct a three-spin giant magnon solution describing a long open string in AdS_5 \times S^5 which rotates both in two angular directions
