Chromosome complements of 43 malagasy species of frogs are described. Chromosome studies were made in 27 species of the Mantellinae (subfamily intermediate between Ranidae and Rhacophoridae). In the genera Mantella and Gephyromantis 26 chromosomes were found, all of which were metaor submetacentric, the karyotype consisted of 5 large and 8 small pairs.
