Microridges produce a characteristic fingerprint-like pattern on the surface of fish oral mucosa. The cytoskeleton in these microridges was examined by immunofluorescence microscopy and transmission electron microscopy after detergent extraction and decoration with myosin subfragment 1. The effect of cytochalasin B on microridges was probed with scanning electron microscopy.
