SummaryMitochondrial DNA (mtDNA) diversity has been determined in apple landraces and cultivars, based upon restriction fragment length polymorphisms (RFLPs) for several mitochondrial genes. Our analysis includes three cultivars, ‘Golden Delicious’, ‘McIntosh’ and ‘Delicious’, which represent the various patterns of mtDNA polymorphisms previously described (Ishikawa et al., 1992).
