Histopathological and cytological changes in the experimental herpes simplex virus (HSV-1) keratitis and dendritic corneal ulcers in patients was studied by using the in vivo corneal replica technique1-3. To make a corneal replica a topical anesthetic is instilled thrice into the eye at five minutes intervals. The eyelids are separated by an ocular speculum.
