POLYPODIACEAE (sensu Copeland1), a part of the once comprehensive family Polypodiaceae (sensu lato), comprises 65 genera, occurring mostly as epiphytes in the tropical and subtropical evergreen and semi-evergreen forests. The genera are characterized by simple, pinnatifid or rarely pinnate fronds with round and rarely linear or acrostichoid typically exindusiate sori.
