After 9 months treatment patients were randomised to a 12 month double-blind cross-over trial comparing Diane plus 25 mg CA with Diane plus placebo, to test the efficacy of low-dose CA as maintenance therapy. Treatment of hirsutism with cyproterone acetate and ethinyl oestradiol
TLDR
It is concluded that CPA and EEz at dosages employed, is effective both clinically and biochemically for the treatment of hirsutism, acne and seborrhoea. Expand
Treatment of hirsutism with the pure antiandrogen flutamide.
TLDR
Treatment with the antiandrogen flutamide and an oral contraceptive resulted in a particularly rapid and marked decrease in the total hirsutism score, which reached the normal range at 7 months. Expand

TLDR
It is demonstrated that hirsutism in PCOS can rapidly and markedly respond to treatment with flutamide alone without important side-effects even if administered for a long period. Expand
Cyproterone acetate for hirsutism
TLDR
The objective of this review was to investigate the effectiveness of cyproterone acetate alone, or in combination with ethinyl estradiol, in reducing hair growth in women with hirsutism secondary to ovarian hyperandrogenism. Expand
Treatment of hirsutism with flutamide and a low-dosage oral contraceptive in polycystic ovarian disease patients.
TLDR
Flutamide, associated with low dosage OC, favorably influence the hirsutism in PCOD women who are unresponsive to OC treatment alone. Expand
Interventions for hirsutism (excluding laser and photoepilation therapy alone).
TLDR
There was low quality evidence for the effect of two oral contraceptive pills (OCPs) and change in androgen levels were addressed in most comparisons, change in body mass index (BMI) and improvement of other clinical signs of hyperandrogenism in one-third of studies. Expand
The efficacy of oral cyproterone acetate in combination with ethinyloestradiol in acne tarda of the facial type
TLDR
The efficacy and tolerability of a preparation containing cyproterone acetate and ethinyloestradiol in women with various grades of facial acne was determined and this combined oestrogen/progestogen preparation provides effective contraceptive protection. Expand
Interventions for hirsutism excluding laser and photoepilation therapy alone: abridged Cochrane systematic review including GRADE assessments
TLDR
Lifestyle interventions reduced body mass index but did not show improvement in hirsutism, and although cosmetic measures are frequently used, no RCTs investigating cosmetic treatments were identified. Expand
Liver structure and function during long-term treatment with cyproterone acetate
TLDR
Biochemical tests of liver function and ultrasonographic examinations were performed in 77 women who had been treated with CPA given in the reverse sequential scheme and no disturbances of the liver structure or function were found. Expand
