We investigated the protective effect of Cyclosporin A (CsA) against ischemia-reperfusion injury in the brain using a transient focal ischemia model in rats. In CsA-treated rats, ischemic brain edema formation 1 day after reperfusion in the cerebral cortex perfused by the middle cerebral artery (MCA) and infarct size were decreased compared with those in olive oil treated control rats.
