Purpose To describe a novel technique of trabeculectomy combined with cyclodialysis and Ologen implantation at 3 sites in cases with high risk for failure of trabeculectomy. Methods Six eyes of 6 patients who had high risk for failure of trabeculectomy underwent cyclodialysis-augmented trabeculectomy with Ologen implantation at 3 sites using the described technique. Results All the eyes achieved target intraocular pressure, which was maintained until 1 year of follow-up. One eye required bleb… Expand
Wick technique in subscleral and subconjunctival Ologen™ implantation with trabeculectomy in patients with high risk of failure
The results of this study show that this technique may be used effectively in patients at high risk of trabeculectomy failure, and further studies in a larger number of patients with diverse high-risk conditions are required before this technique is recommended for general use. Expand
Cyclodialysis: an update
Ocular hypotony can lead to cataract development, optic disk swelling, refractive changes, and several retinal complications, making accurate identification and timely intervention of the cleft mandatory. Expand
CyPass® Micro-Stent Safety and Efficacy at One Year: What Have We Learned?
The suprachoroidal pathway appears to potentially offer an alternative to the classic subconjunctival pathways, yet present a new set of challenges, yet further studies would have to address these concerns of endothelial cell loss, IOP spikes, and high failure rate. Expand

A summary of the innovations in glaucoma surgery to advance patient care by making it more effective, safer, and economical is presented. Expand

Ab-externo cyclodialysis enhanced trabeculectomy for intractable post-penetrating keratoplasty glaucoma
Cyclodialysis-augmented MMC trabeculectomy provides a safe and effective method of lowering IOP in intractable glaucoma following penetrating keratoplasty, without compromising the corneal graft survival and clarity. Expand
Trabeculectomy With Combined Use of Subconjunctival Collagen Implant and Low-dose Mitomycin C
Trabeculectomy with implantation of an Ologen implant and use of low-dose MMC appears to offer encouraging short-term results for IOP control in eyes with primary open-angle glaucoma. Expand
Bleb-related endophthalmitis after trabeculectomy with mitomycin C.
Short-term follow-up of trabeculectomies performed with adjunctive use of MMC demonstrates an overall incidence of endophthalmitis comparable to filtrationprocedures performed with 5-fluorouracil or without antifibrotic agents, however, inferior trabECulectomy performed withAdjunctive MMC carries a significantly increased risk of bleb-related endophhalmitis compared with filters performed superiorly. Ologen Implant versus Mitomycin C for Trabeculectomy: A Systematic Review and Meta-Analysis
The Ologen implant is comparable with MMC for trabeculectomy in IOP-lowering efficacy, reduction in the number of glaucoma medications, success rates, and tolerability, but should be interpreted cautiously since relevant evidence is still limited. Expand
Efficacy and safety of trabeculectomy vs nonpenetrating surgical procedures: a systematic review and meta-analysis.
Trabeculectomy seems to be the most effective surgical procedure for reducing IOP in patients with open-angle glaucoma, however, as expected, it was associated with a higher incidence of complications when compared with NPS. Expand

Cyclodialysis ab interno as a surgical approach to intractable glaucoma
The results of this study do not provide convincing evidence of the functional efficacy of cyclodialysis ab interno, but the best results were obtained for phakic eyes, though the small number of eyes included does not allow reliable statistics. Expand
