Cyclin-dependent kinase holoenzymes are comprised of a catalytic subunit, the Cdk, and a member of a family of regulatory subunits, the cyclins. The hallmark of cyclin-dependent kinases is that they are inactive in their monomeric form and require association with the requisite cyclin partner for activation.
