Dendritic cells (DCs) communicate with nonadaptive and adaptive lymphocytes on multiple levels. Efficient DC-lymphocyte interactions require that lymphocytes remain viable and functional also under conditions of oxidative stress, such as in microbial infection or in the malignant microenvironment.
