Hairy cell leukemia (HCL) is a chronic B-cell lymphoproliferative disorder characterized by splenomegaly, pancytopenia and circulating lymphocytes displaying prominent cytoplasmic projections. HCL has usually an indolent course and the patients with asymptomatic disease do not require therapy.
