We study correlators of R-symmetry currents in the Coulomb branch of N = 4 supersymmetric gauge theory in the large-N limit, using the AdS/CFT correspondence. In particular, we consider gauge fields in the presence of gravity and scalar fields parameterizing the coset SL(6,R)/SO(6) in the context of five-dimensional gauged supergravity. From a ten-dimensional point of view these backgrounds correspond to continuous D3-brane distributions. We find the surprising result that all 2-point functions…

Gravity duals for the Coulomb branch of marginally deformed N = 4 Yang-Mills

Supergravity backgrounds dual to a class of exactly marginal deformations of N = 4 supersymmetric Yang–Mills can be constructed through an SL(2, R) sequence of T-dualities and coordinate shifts. We

Coulomb branch of N=4 SYM and dilatonic scions in supergravity

We find a parametrically light dilaton in special confining theories in three dimensions. Their duals form what we call a scion of solutions to the supergravity associated with the large- N limit of

Correlation functions in a cascading N=1 gauge theory from supergravity

We study fluctuations around the warped conifold supergravity solution of Klebanov and Tseytlin [hep-th/0002159], known to be dual to a cascading N=1 gauge theory. Although this supergravity

Supersymmetric gauge theories and the AdS / CFT correspondence

In these lecture notes we first assemble the basic ingredients of supersymmetric gauge theories (particularly N=4 super-Yang-Mills theory), supergravity, and superstring theory. Brane solutions are

PP-waves from rotating and continuously distributed D3-branes

We study families of PP-wave solutions of type-IIB supergravity that have (light-cone) time dependent metrics and RR five-form fluxes. They arise as Penrose limits of supergravity solutions that

Holographic models of composite Higgs in the Veneziano limit. Part I. Bosonic sector

We study strongly-coupled, approximately scale-invariant gauge theories, which develop a mass gap in the infrared. We argue that a large number of fermion flavours is most suitable to provide an

Holographic models of composite Higgs in the Veneziano limit: 1. Bosonic sector.

We study strongly-coupled, approximately scale-invariant gauge theories, which develop a mass gap in the infrared. We argue that a large number of fermion flavours is most suitable to provide an

Dilatonic states near holographic phase transitions

The spectrum of bound states of special strongly coupled confining field theories might include a parametrically light dilaton, associated with the formation of enhanced condensates that break

Holographic Renormalization

The chiral anomaly from M theory

We argue that the chiral anomaly of $\Ncal = 1$ super Yang-Mills theory admits a dual description as spontaneous symmetry breaking in M theory on $G_2$ holonomy manifolds. We identify an angle of the

Symmetric potentials of gauged supergravities in diverse dimensions and Coulomb branch of gauge theories

A class of conformally flat and asymptotically anti--de Sitter geometries involving profiles of scalar fields is studied from the point of view of gauged supergravity. The scalars involved in the

The Enhancon and N=2 Gauge Theory/Gravity RG Flows

We study the family of ten dimensional type IIB supergravity solutions corresponding to renormalisation group flows from N=4 to N=2 supersymmetric Yang-Mills theory. Part of the solution set

Correlation functions in the Coulomb branch of N=4 super Yang-Mills theory from AdS-CFT correspondence

In the present paper we study SU(N)->S(U(N/2)xU(N/2)) symmetry breaking in N=4 SYM via AdS/CFT correspondence. We consider two stacks of N/2 parallel D3 branes separated by a distance 2\vec d. In

Correlation functions in the Coulomb branch of N = 4 SYM from AdS / CFT correspondence

In the present paper we study S(N) → S(U (N/2) × U (N/2)) symmetry breaking in N = 4 SY M via AdS/CFT correspondence. We consider two stacks of N/2 parallel D3 branes separated by a distance 2 d. In

Branes for Higgs phases and exact conformal field theories

We consider multicenter supergravity solutions corresponding to Higgs phases of supersymmetric Yang-Mills theories with ZN symmetric vacua. In certain energy regimes, we find a description in terms
