Early blight (Alternaria solani) is an important disease causing severe damage in tomato. The eleven isolates of A. solani designated as So, Dh, Sh, Va-5, Ka, Ma, Hy, Ba-1, My, Va-3 and Mi were collected from different agroclimatic conditions and these isolates were characterized for cultural, morphological, pathogenic and molecular variations. The pigmentation varied from yellow, brown, black, brownish to greenish black in isolates of A. solani on potato dextrose agar medium. In general…

Pathogenic, cultural, morphological and molecular variability among eight isolates of Alternaria solani , causing early blight of tomato

Among the fungal diseases infecting tomato crops, early blight caused by Alternaria solani (Ellis and Martin) Jones and Grout is one of the most catastrophic disease causing accountable losses.

Diversity analysis of Alternaria solani isolates infecting tomato in Uttarakhand, India

Early blight caused by Alternaria sorlani is a devastating disease of tomato and potato. In India, up to 78% yield of tomato is lost due to early blight. The present investigation reports cultural,

Cultural, Morphological and Biochemical Variability Studies among the Isolates of Alternaria solani, the Causal Agent of Early Blight Disease of Tomato

Present experiment was conducted at College of Horticulture, Bengaluru (KA) during year 2017–18 to study the cultural, morphological and biochemical variations among the isolates of the pathogen

Cultural, morphological, molecular comparison and pathogenicity of Alternaria solani causing early blight disease in tomato

Early blight of tomato is one of the highly destructive diseases caused by an airborne soil-inhabiting fungus Alternaria solani (Ellis and Martin) and these fungal strains were identified and compared on the basis of morphological and ITS sequence analysis.

Cultural, Morphological and Pathogenic Characterization of Isolates of Alternaria helianthi Causing Sunflower Blight*

Twenty-five isolates of Alternaria helianthi were collected in pure form from Directorate of Oilseeds Research, Rajendranagar, Hyderabad for cultural, morphological and pathogenic characterization and their level of virulence varied greatly across the host cultivars.

Morphological, cultural, pathogenic and molecular variability amongst Indian mustard isolates of Alternaria brassicae in Uttarakhand

Isolates exhibited variations in disease index, number and size of the lesions, and significant morphological variations in conidia length, conidia width, and number of horizontal septa were observed in the isolates.

CULTURAL , MORPHOLOGICAL AND BIOCHEMICAL VARIATIONS OF ALTERNARIA SOLANI CAUSING DISEASES ON SOLANACEOUS CROPS

Leaf spot or Early blight incited by Alternaria solani (Ellis and Martin) Jones and Grout is an economically important and widely distributed disease throughout the world on crops belonging to

VARIATION IN AGGRESSIVENESS AND AFLP AMONG Alternaria solani ISOLATES FROM INDONESIA

Resistance tests of four tomato genotypes to selected A. solani isolates revealed that local isolates were more aggressive in inciting early blight and stem lesion than an imported isolate from USA, implying that introduced breeding materials must be tested to local isolate to obtain effective resistance genes.

Cultural, morphological, pathogenic and molecular characterization of Alternaria mali associated with Alternaria leaf blotch of apple

The results demonstrate existence of considerable variation in cultural, morphological, pathogenic and molecular characters of A. mali isolates prevalent in Kashmir valley.

Studies on variability in Alternaria alternata (Kessler) causing leaf blight of Isabgol (Plantago ovata).

All the five isolates of Alternaria alternata isolated from different agro climate zone of Rajasthan were tested for their variability in terms of cultural, conidial, pathogenic characteristics and toxin production and showed significant variations in Terms of disease intensity and incubation periods.

Genetic diversity of Alternaria alternata isolated from tomato in California assessed using RAPDs

Black mould lesions were caused by Alternaria alternata in 76% of 228 tomato fruit with characteristic sunken black lesions collected from fields of processing tomatoes in California, suggesting that isolates are widely dispersed across California.

RAPD-PCR analysis of genetic variation among isolates of Alternaria solani and Alternaria alternata from potato and tomato

Random amplified polymorphic DNA- PCR (RAPD-PCR) analysis was used to investigate genetic variation among isolates of Alternaria solani, the causal agent of early blight on solanaceous crops, and A. alternata, an opportunistic pathogen, suggesting the possibility of pathogenic specialization.

Effect of light on sporulation of Alternaria kikuchiana Tanaka.

Effect of the continuous light exposure with white fluorescent lamp on sporulation of Alternaria kikuchiana Tanaka depended more or less on the kinds of media and on temperature and the distance from lamp to mycellium.

Modulation of sporulation of Alternaria tagetica by carbon dioxide

Absorption of CO2 from the atmosphere within the plates via KOH counteracted wildtype inhibition by plate sealing and induced light-independent sporulation in wildtype strains of A. tagetica and A. cucumerina, species which typically require light for sporulation.

Effects of inoculum concentration, wetness duration and plant age on development of early blight (Alternaria solani) and on shedding of leaves in tomato plants

Tomato plants were susceptible to Alternaria solani at all growth stages, but susceptibility increased as plants matured, and there were no significant differences in susceptibility between tomato cultivars and hybrids.
