MARCO is a trimeric class A scavenger receptor of macrophages and dendritic cells that recognizes polyanionic particles and pathogens. The distal, scavenger receptor cysteine-rich (SRCR) domain of the extracellular part of this receptor has been implicated in ligand binding.
