Some intestinal parasitic infections are frequently seen in renal transplant recipients. Parasites such as Cryptosporidium spp. and Blastocystis hominis are often asymptomatic or responsible for limited infections in normals, but may cause prolonged and heavy infections with gastrointestinal complaints, mainly diarrhea, in immunocompromised patients.
