New carotenoids, cryptocapsin-5,6-epoxide, 3'-deoxycapsanthin-5,6-epoxide, and cryptocapsin-5,8-epoxides, have been isolated from the ripe fruits of red mamey (Pouteria sapota). Cryptocapsin-5,6-epoxide was prepared by partial synthesis via epoxidation of cryptocapsin, and the (5R,6S)- and (5S,6R)-stereoisomers were identified by HPLC-ECD analysis. Spectroscopic data of the natural (anti) and semisynthetic (syn) derivatives obtained by acid-catalyzed rearrangement of cryptocapsin-5,8-epoxide…

Isolation of β-Cryptoxanthin-epoxides, Precursors of Cryptocapsin and 3'-Deoxycapsanthin, from Red Mamey (Pouteria sapota).
These carotenoids among others are quite common in the fruits of Central America, and as they are natural provitamins A, they should play an important role in the diet of the mostly vitamin A deficient population of this region.
Isolation and identification of sapotexanthin 5,6-epoxide and 5,8-epoxide from red mamey (Pouteria sapota).
Two new carotenoids have been isolated from the ripe fruits of red mamey (Pouteria sapota) and the (5R,6S) and (5S,6R) stereoisomers were identified by high-performance liquid chromatography-electronic circular dichroism (HPLC-ECD) analysis.
Tetrahydroxanthene-1,3(2H)-dione derivatives from Uvaria valderramensis.
Two tetrahydroxanthene-1,3(2H)-dione metabolites, valderramenols A and B, were isolated from the Philippine endemic Annonaceous species Uvariavalderramensis and exhibited cytotoxic activity against KB-562, a chronic myeloid leukemia cell line.
Isolation of allene carotenoids from mamey
Carotenoid Composition of the Fruit of Red Mamey (Pouteria sapota).
The detailed carotenoid analysis of red mamey (Pouteria sapota) was achieved by HPLC-DAD-MS, chemical tests, and cochromatography with authentic samples, and some comments are made about the biosynthesis of κ-carotenoids in redmamey.
Carotenoid Composition of Cionosicyos macranthus Fruit
Considering the high β-cryptoxanthin and cryptocapsin contents, C. macranthus can be considered a good source of provitamin A carotenoids.
UPLC-QTOF-MS Analysis of Extracts from the Leaves of Pouteria caimito (Sapotaceae) and Their Antioxidant Activity
This study describes the phytochemical profile and antioxidant activity of an extract from the leaves of Pouteria caimito (Sapotaceae). The extract in ethanol was obtained by maceration at room
Preparation of neuroprotective condensed 1,4-benzoxazepines by regio- and diastereoselective domino Knoevenagel–[1,5]-hydride shift cyclization reaction
Two compounds showed neuroprotective activities against hydrogen peroxide (H2O2) or β-amyloid25–35 (Aβ25– 35)-induced cellular injuries in human neuroblastoma SH-SY5Y cells in the range of those of positive controls.
