A marine furanoterpenoid derivative, 10-acetylirciformonin B (10AB), was found to inhibit the proliferation of leukemia, hepatoma, and colon cancer cell lines, with selective and significant potency against leukemia cells. [] Key Result We found that the use of 10AB increased apoptosis by 8.9%-87.6% and caused disruption of mitochondrial membrane potential (MMP) by 15.2%-95.2% in a dose-dependent manner, as demonstrated by annexin-V/PI and JC-1 staining assays, respectively.

Withaferin A Induces Oxidative Stress-Mediated Apoptosis and DNA Damage in Oral Cancer Cells
TLDR
It is concluded that WFA induced oxidative stress-mediated selective killing of oral cancer cells by inducing apoptosis, G2/M arrest, oxidative stress, and DNA damage.
Breaking down Leukemia Walls: Heteronemin, a Sesterterpene Derivative, Induces Apoptosis in Leukemia Molt4 Cells through Oxidative Stress, Mitochondrial Dysfunction and Induction of Talin Expression
TLDR
The cytotoxic effect of heteronemin is associated with oxidative stress and induction of phosphorylated talin expression and the use of ROS scavenger, N-acetyl cysteine (NAC), suppressed both the production of ROS from mitochondria and cell apoptosis that were induced byheteronemin treatment.
Reactive oxygen species mediate the chemopreventive effects of syringin in breast cancer cells.
Tackling the Cytotoxic Effect of a Marine Polycyclic Quinone-Type Metabolite: Halenaquinone Induces Molt 4 Cells Apoptosis via Oxidative Stress Combined with the Inhibition of HDAC and Topoisomerase Activities
TLDR
The results suggested that the antileukemic effect of HQ is ROS-mediated mitochondrial apoptosis combined with the inhibitory effect on HDAC and topoisomerase activities.
Tenuifolide B from Cinnamomum tenuifolium Stem Selectively Inhibits Proliferation of Oral Cancer Cells via Apoptosis, ROS Generation, Mitochondrial Depolarization, and DNA Damage
TLDR
It is inferred that TFB can selectively inhibit cell proliferation of oral cancer cells through apoptosis, ROS generation, mitochondrial membrane depolarization, and DNA damage.
Reactive oxygen species mediate soft corals-derived sinuleptolide-induced antiproliferation and DNA damage in oral cancer cells
TLDR
The reactive oxygen species (ROS) scavenger (N-acetylcysteine [NAC]) was introduced in a pretreatment to evaluate the sinuleptolide-induced changes to cell viability, morphology, intracellular ROS, mitochondrial superoxide, apoptosis, and DNA damage of oral cancer cells (Ca9-22).
Sinularin induces oxidative stress‐mediated G2/M arrest and apoptosis in oral cancer cells
TLDR
Taken together, sinularin induces oxidative stress‐mediated antiproliferation, G2/M arrest, and apoptosis against oral cancer cells and may be a potential marine drug for antioral cancer therapy.
The curcumin analog (PAC) suppressed cell survival and induced apoptosis and autophagy in oral cancer cells
TLDR
It is demonstrated that PAC preferentially and, in a dose, -dependent way kills oral cancer cells, but was not toxic to normal human gingival cells, suggesting the potential use of PAC to treat oral cancer.
Ethyl Acetate Extract of Nepenthes ventricosa x maxima Exerts Preferential Killing to Oral Cancer Cells.
TLDR
EANV has a preferential killing effect against oral cancer cells associated with oxidative stress, apoptosis, and DNA damage, suggesting EANV as a potential antioral cancer agent.

10-Acetylirciformonin B, A Sponge Furanoterpenoid, Induces DNA Damage and Apoptosis in Leukemia Cells
TLDR
It isicate that 10-acetylirciformonin B treatment causes apoptosis in leukaemia cells; probably through a caspase-dependent regulatory pathway.
Towards the Small and the Beautiful: A Small Dibromotyrosine Derivative from Pseudoceratina sp. Sponge Exhibits Potent Apoptotic Effect through Targeting IKK/NFκB Signaling Pathway
TLDR
The results of a set of experiments designed to reveal the underlying mechanism of DT cytotoxic activity against K562 cells suggested that DT can act as a topoisomerase II catalytic inhibitor, unlike the clinical anticancer drug, etoposide, which acts as aTopoisomersase poison.

Arsenic trioxide (As2O3) induces apoptosis through activation of Bax in hematopoietic cells
TLDR
The data suggest that As2O3 might exert the cell killing in part by inducing Bax activation through a Bcl-2-suppressible pathway in hematopoietic cells that is caspase independent and intracellular ROS regulated.
Hexokinase II detachment from the mitochondria potentiates cisplatin induced cytotoxicity through a caspase-2 dependent mechanism
TLDR
The detachment of hexokinase II from the mitochondria markedly potentiates the onset of caspase-2 induced mitochondrial damage, thus resulting in a synergistic induction of cisplatin induced cytotoxicity.

Matrine induces caspase-independent program cell death in hepatocellular carcinoma through bid-mediated nuclear translocation of apoptosis inducing factor
TLDR
In the in vivo study, matrine significantly attenuated tumor growth with AIF release from mitochondria into nucleus in nude mice, implying that matrine potently induce caspase-independent PCD in HepG2 cells through Bid-mediated AIF translocation.
Tumor cell-protective catalase as a novel target for rational therapeutic approaches based on specific intercellular ROS signaling.
TLDR
Novel approache, developed in vitro, utilize antibody-mediated inhibition of catalase or ROS-driven singlet oxygen generation and subsequent inactivation of tumor cell catalases as initial steps to translate this complex but well-established ROS-dependent signaling chemistry into novel approaches for experimental therapy in vivo.
