We study the cosmological implications of the Nambu-Jona-Lasinio (NJL model) when the coupling constant is field dependent. The NJL model has a four-fermion interaction describing two different phases due to quantum interaction effects and determined by the strength of the coupling constant g. It describes massless fermions for weak coupling and a massive fermions and strong coupling, where a fermion condensate is formed. In the original NJL model the coupling constant g is indeed constant, and…

Cosmology and Quantum Field Theory: A study of the Nambu-Jona-Lasinio Model

• Physics
• 2015
We review the Nambu-Jona-Lasinio model (NJL), proposed long time ago, as a four-fermion interaction theory with chiral symmetry. The theory is not renormalizable and presents a symmetry breaking due

Quintessence Unification Models from Non-Abelian Gauge Dynamics

We show that the condensates of a non-abelian gauge group, unified with the standard model gauge groups, can parameterize the present day cosmological constant and play the role of quintessence. The

Gauged Nambu-Jona-Lasinio inflation

• Physics
• 2015
We investigate the gauged Nambu-Jona-Lasinio model in curved space-time at the large Nc$N_{c}$ limit and in slow-roll approximation. The model can be described by the renormalization group corrected

Quintessence restrictions on negative power and condensate potentials

• Physics
• 2002
We study the cosmological evolution of scalar fields that arise from a phase transition at some energy scale $\Lm_c$. We focus on negative power potentials given by $V=c\Lm_c^{4+n}\phi^{-n}$ and

Planck 2015 results: XIV. Dark energy and modified gravity

• Physics
• 2016
We study the implications of Planck data for models of dark energy (DE) and modified gravity (MG) beyond the standard cosmological constant scenario. We start with cases where the DE only directly

Interacting dark energy: generic cosmological evolution for two scalar fields

We study the cosmological evolution of two coupled scalar fields with an arbitrary interaction term VT(,) in the presence of a barotropic fluid, which can be matter or radiation. The force between

Cosmological evolution of general scalar fields and quintessence

• Mathematics

We study the cosmological evolution of scalar fields with arbitrary potentials in the presence of a baryotropic fluid (matter or radiation) without making any assumption on which term dominates. We
