In Randall-Sundrum-type brane-world cosmologies, the dynamical equations on the three-brane differ from the general relativity equations by terms that carry the effects of embedding and of the free gravitational field in the five-dimensional bulk. Instead of starting from an ansatz for the metric, we derive the covariant nonlinear dynamical equations for the gravitational and matter fields on the brane, and then linearize to find the perturbation equations on the brane. The local energy…

Modified gravitational equations on braneworld with Lorentz invariant violation

The modified gravitational equations to describe a four-dimensional braneworld in the case with the Lorentz invariant violation in a bulk spacetime is presented. It contains a trace part of the brane

The dynamics of brane-world cosmological models

Brane-world cosmology is motivated by recent developments in string/M-theory and offers a new perspective on the hierarchy problem. In the brane-world scenario, our Universe is a four-dimensional

Braneworld gravity: influence of the moduli fields

We consider the case of a generic braneworld geometry in the presence of one or more moduli fields (e.g. the dilaton) that vary throughout the bulk spacetime. Working in an arbitrary conformal frame,

Rotational perturbations of high density matter in the brane cosmology

We consider the evolution of small rotational perturbations, with azimuthal symmetry, of the brane-world cosmological models. The equations describing the temporal, radial and angular dependence of

Rotational perturbations of high density matter in the brane cosmology

We consider the evolution of small rotational perturbations, with azimuthal symmetry, of the brane-world cosmological models. The equations describing the temporal, radial and angular dependence of

Brane world dynamics and conformal bulk fields

In the Randall-Sundrum scenario we investigate the dynamics of a spherically symmetric 3-brane world when matter fields are present in the bulk. To analyze the 5-dimensional Einstein equations we

Galactic dark matter as a bulk effect on the brane

The behaviour of the angular velocity of a test particle moving in a stable circular orbit in the vacuum on the brane is considered. In the braneworld scenario, the four-dimensional effective

Vacuum solutions of the gravitational field equations in the brane world model

We consider some classes of solutions of the static, spherically symmetric gravitational field equations in the vacuum in the brane world scenario, in which our Universe is a three-brane embedded in

Low-energy effective theory for a Randall-Sundrum scenario with a moving bulk brane

We derive the low-energy effective theory of gravity for a generalized Randall-Sundrum scenario, allowing for a third self-gravitating brane to live in the 5D bulk spacetime. At zero order the 5D

Virial theorem and the dynamics of clusters of galaxies in the brane world models

A version of the virial theorem, which takes into account the effects of the noncompact extra dimensions, is derived in the framework of the brane world models. In the brane world scenario, the
