Bellojisia, a new sordariaceous genus for Jobellisia rhynchostoma and a description of Jobellisiaceae fam. nov.

The phylogenetic analyses of partial nucLSU rDNA sequence data of three Jobellisia species indicate that J. rhynchostoma is distinct from the core species of JobellIsia, and morphological and molecular data suggest Corylomyces selenosporus of the Sordariales is the closest relative.

Re-Evaluation of the Order Sordariales: Delimitation of Lasiosphaeriaceae s. str., and Introduction of the New Families Diplogelasinosporaceae, Naviculisporaceae, and Schizotheciaceae

A phylogenetic analysis based on sequences of the internal transcribed spacer region (ITS), the nuclear rDNA large subunit (LSU), and fragments of ribosomal polymerase II subunit 2 (rpb2) and β-tubulin (tub2) genes of several isolates from soil and of reference strains of the Sordariales produces a more natural classification of this family.

Three New Derivatives of Zopfinol from Pseudorhypophila Mangenotii gen. et comb. nov.

The isolation of zopfinols 1–4 and sordarins 7–9 confirms the potential of this fungal order as producers of bioactive compounds and suggests these compounds as potential chemotaxonomic markers.

On a new species of Chaetomidium, C. vicugnae, with a cephalothecoid peridium and its relationships with Chaetomiaceae (Sordariales)

A sample of vicuna dung from a Chilean coastal desert was submitted to the attention of the author, who at first sight noticed the presence of different pyrenomycetes and was subjected to a morphological study that proved them to belong to a new species of Chaetomidium.

Refined families of Sordariomycetes

This treatment of the class Sordariomycetes provides up-to-date DNA based phylogenies for 45 orders and 163 families and provides general descriptions and illustrate the type genus or another genus, where the placement has generally been confirmed with molecular data.

Morinagadepsin, a Depsipeptide from the Fungus Morinagamyces vermicularis gen. et comb. nov.

The new genus Morinagamyces is introduced herein to accommodate the fungus Apiosordaria vermicularis as inferred from a phylogenetic study based on sequences of the internal transcribed spacer region

Taxonomic studies of some often over-looked Diaporthomycetidae and Sordariomycetidae

The main objective in this study is to revise and update the taxonomy of several well-known early and poorly studied species whose classification are still obscure and establish a new genus Neoschizothecium based on phylogenetic analysis.

Corrections to recent changes in the taxonomy of the Sordariales

The focus of the current review is to provide a scientifically responsible alternative to the erroneous novelties proposed at the family, genus and species level in the recent classification of Sordariales.

Myconet Volume 14. Part One. Outline of Ascomycota—2009. Part Two. Notes on Ascomycete Systematics. Nos. 4751–5113

The current classification that includes all accepted genera and higher taxa above the generic level in the phylum Ascomycota is presented, based on the changes listed in Myconet notes 4751–5113.

Universal Scaling in the Branching of the Tree of Life

This work examines the topological properties of a large set of interspecific and intraspecific phylogenies and shows that the branching patterns follow allometric rules conserved across the different levels in the Tree of Life, all significantly departing from those expected from the standard null models.

A new species of Achaetomium from Indian soil

Analysis of the D1 and D2 regions of the LSU rRNA gene supports the proposal that this new species, isolated from soil in Northern India, is Achaetomium umbonatum, characterised by its thermotolerance, and the opaque, big, limoniform ascospores.

A new species of Podospora from soil in Chile

A new Podospora species with cylindrical asci, and inequilateral or curved ascospores, with a small, quickly evanescent primary appendage and absence of secondary appendages is isolated from soil in Chile.

Farrowia, a new genus in the Chaetomiaceae

The new genus Farrowia D. Hawksw. is described to accommodate Chaetomium longicolleum Krzem. & Badura and C. longirostre (Farrow) L. Ames, species formerly incorrectly referred to Chaetoceratostoma

Molecular systematics of the Sordariales: the order and the family Lasiosphaeriaceae redefined

Two new orders, Coniochaetales and Chaetosphaeriales, are recognized and the Boliniaceae is accepted in the Boliniales, and the Nitschkiaceae is acceptance in the Coronophorales.

All the culture color names and codes were based on the 'Methuen Handbook of Colour', which was published by the 4, Methuen handbook of colour.

Guanomyces, a new genus of ascomycetes from Mexico.

The hyaline ascospores, without a germ pore, and the possession of an ascoma with a long neck ornamented with lateral glandular hairs is in contrast to other genera of the Chaetomiaceae.
